Theater and solidarity come together again in the cycle ‘Storytelling Without Borders’. News. Zaragoza City Hall

The Municipal School of Theater of the Zaragoza City Council and the NGO Doctors Without Borders offer this week the cycle of functions ‘Storytelling Without Borders’, an artistic initiative to raise awareness about the harsh reality of people forced to live in countries devastated by war, hunger or violence, or who cross land and sea in search of a better life.

‘Once upon a time there was a girl who wanted to live’ is the name of the play that the second-year students of the Municipal Theater School will perform, accompanied by a volunteer from Doctors Without Borders who will tell about their experience on the ground.

There will be two screenings for the general public: friday 25 February (6 p.m.) and sunday 27 February (12 hours), both in University Civic Center, with free admission until full capacity. In addition, there will also be educational functions for schoolchildren, which are complemented by activities to be carried out in schools, both before and after the performance, as a reflection.

The proposal for this edition will address the reality of Yemen, Afghanistan and Central America. For this, traditional stories and legends from different countries will be used, which are adapted for the occasion. It is the case of the story The teachings of the rain godfrom Maasai tradition, and African legend The spirit of the tree.
