The ZZS bill rejects the 0% VAT rate for primary food

Saeima rejected today Greens and farmers’ unions (ZZS) on value added tax (PVN) 0% rate for food and abandonment of the “green” fuel additive.

ZZS had repeatedly called for a decision to reduce the 0% VAT rate for dairy products, bread, fresh meat and fish, as well as eggs in order to reduce the daily expenses of the population, the party’s representative Dace Kārkliņa previously informed.

The coalition government had previously conceptually agreed on a solution that would allow traders to sell fuel without biofuels, Ministry of Economy Ilze Indriksone (NA), Parliamentary Secretary. This option would be available to traders for a limited period, from 1 July this year to the end of 2023.

The Saeima today rejected a similar draft law of the ZZS.

The parliament also today rejected the “Harmony” bill for a lower rate of 5% for reimbursable medicines.
