The Zócalo is guarded due to AMLO’s meeting with the families of the 43

In anticipation of the meeting that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will hold today with the families of the 43 Ayotzinapa students who disappeared in 2014 and the arrival of groups that will come to demonstrate their support outside the National Palace, the entire perimeter of the Zócalo is protected by metal fences and elements of the capital police.

Today’s meeting between the head of the Executive and the parents of the students is the third one that has taken place this year. In this meeting, the families of the students will be accompanied by their legal representatives and it is expected that they will submit their response to the first report on the case prepared by the president.

A call has also been circulating since last night for groups to come to the vicinity of the National Palace to show their support for the parents of the young people.

After the meeting with the President, the families will move to the Mexico City Museum to meet Claudia Sheinbaum, the virtual president-elect, for the first time.

There, parents will express their position and, above all, hope that some agreements will be reached regarding the work that will be carried out during the Morena administration.
