The Zaragoza taxi sector has been losing 80% for more than two months

The taxi group in the Aragonese capital has suffered a collapse of 80% and the de-escalation is not helping to stop the losses.

Taxi drivers regret that neither phase 1 nor the recently launched phase 2 has led to an increase in the number of users, closely linked to nightlife and the arrival of tourists.

For this reason, they ask the City Council and the rest of the public administrations for help and propose, among other issues, the return to reduced services for the elderly.

The initiative of trips to one euro for people over 65 years was carried out for almost two months and served to make some 14,000 trips to health centers, hospitals and pharmacies.

“We would like to continue providing the service”, indicates Mariano Morón, president of the Provincial Association of Auto-taxi of Zaragoza (Apatz), who explains that this time the conditions could be different and the user would contribute two euros.

For their part, the Zaragoza City Council assures that they are studying “collaboration formulas” with the taxi drivers, but that they are not yet defined.
