VALNCIA, 26 (PRESS EUROPE)
Young Valencians leave this Monday for the German city of Rostock to participate in the European meeting of young people, organized by the ecumenical community of Taiz, which will be held from this Wednesday until next January 1st.
Thus, Acogida Taiz Valencia has indicated that the participants will leave by bus at midnight, from the Paseo de la Alameda, between the Puente de las Flores and the Puente de Aragón, as reported by the Archbishopric of Valencia in a statement.
The program of events and celebrations will include prayer and reflection groups, meetings with people involved in the life of the local community, workshops on the themes of faith and interior life, climate change, social commitment, culture and artistic creation.
In addition, a prayer vigil for world peace will be held on Saturday 31 December at 11.00 pm, followed by the so-called Fiesta de los Pueblos.
The participants will stay with Rostock families and parish halls, schools or sports centers will also be set up to welcome the young people.
In Valencia, many young people gather every Friday for the so-called Taiz-style prayer in the parish of Nuestra Señora del Pilar and itinerant prayers are organized every fortnight in different places in the Archdiocese.
EUROPEAN MEETING
These meetings arose from the concern of frère Roger (1915-2005), founder and prior of the ecumenical community of Taiz, to share the lifestyle of the community of brothers in various cities of Europe with young people and families “seeking also that young people, moved by the Holy Spirit, to revitalize the Churches and radiate the light of the Gospel in European culture”. Thus was born the ‘Pilgrimage of trust for the Earth’.
The last days of the year always bring together all the young people of a different city to “pray together, to believe in a reconciled Europe built on the basis of the Gospel and in favor of the most needy, beloved of Jesus”, the organization declared.
