Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) served to introduce, quietly, the Young Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Indeed, for a few films and series, Marvel Studios has presented increasingly young heroes, who should, over time, form the famous team of the Young Avengers. Comic book readers already know the drawing that is being created. For the others, we make a small update on the situation.
What are the Young Avengers?
In the comics, the Young Avengers do their first appearance in 2005. First introduced as new versions of Earth’s greatest heroes, they gain prominence during the Civil War. In the comics, this team of young superheroes mainly consists of:
-
Hulking : half-Hulk, half-Skrull, he has a direct relationship with the Skrulls who will be at the center of Secret Invasion.
-
Wiccan : half Asgardian, half mutant, he is an extremely powerful magician who also happens to be the son of The Scarlet Witch. He is also Hulking’s boyfriend.
-
Speed : brother of Wiccan, he looks like two drops of water to his uncle Quicksilver.
-
Patriot : grandson of Isaiah Bradley, he is the Captain America of the Young Avengers.
-
Iron Lad : he is the sympathetic and younger double of Kang the conqueror. He borrowed armor from Iron Man.
-
Kate Bishop : introduced in the series Hawkeye, she is destined to become the new Hawkeye.
-
Vision II : Created from the remnants of the original Vision.
-
Stature : it is the daughter of Scott Lang, who will gain in importance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
To see more clearly, we advise you to read Young Avengers: Children’s Crusade by Allan Heinberg and Alan Davis released in 2013. And you might not have noticed, but most of these characters have already been introduced to the MCU.
The Young Avengers begin to nest
The evidence of the evidence is of course Kate Bishop. Embodied by Hailee Steinfeld in the series Hawkeye, Kate Bishop is the most identifiable Young Avenger in the MCU at the moment. She cut her teeth in the series worn by Jeremy Renner and is clearly destined to become the new archer of the MCU. There is a good chance that this is the big boss of the Young Avengers in the MCU.
Wiccan et Speed are present in the series WandaVision and in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If they are still called Billy and Tommy, there is a good chance that the two boys will reveal themselves in the MCU sequel, and return under their new pseudonyms in the series. Agatha : Coven of Chaos and in the movie Avengers : Secret Wars.
Patriot makes a short appearance in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Indeed, when Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes visit Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), they also meet the grandson of the latter: Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson). Even if the character remains in the background, his presence suggests that Patriot could soon release the shield, perhaps in Captain America : New World Order.
Stature will obviously be at the center of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Portrayed by Kathryn Newton, Cassie Lang will obviously be the MCU’s next Ant-Man. She will also play a pivotal role within the Young Avengers.
Vision II obviously appears at the end of WandaVision. That White Vision has since fled and is currently somewherein freedom, in nature.
So the only two Young Avengers that haven’t been introduced yet are Hulking an Iron Lad. However, it is done mention of Hulking in the series She-Hulk : Avocate. A way for Marvel Studios to lay the foundation stone for the upcoming introduction of the hybrid. The latter could appear during the series Secret Invasion which will focus on the Skrulls. As for Iron Lad, there is no mention of it anywhere in the MCU yet. But with the arrival of Kang and his multiple variants, the introduction of the young Iron Lad would be soon…
Other potential members
In addition to the presence of comic book characters who are beginning to make their way into the MCU, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has offered other contenders for the Young Avengers position. Indeed, Phase 4 introduced many young superheroes who could totally be members of the Young Avengers.
Indeed, other characters, introduced over the films and series have their place within the Young Avengers. There is, for example, of course, Miss Marvel, who was the heroine of her own series. And since the latter has been put forward so much, there is a good chance that she will join this young team. We can also cite America Chavezone of the protagonists of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The young woman will obviously return to the MCU and could therefore join the Young Avengers. Finally, it is also worth highlighting the presence of ironheart in Black Panther : Wakanda Forever. The latter, embodied by Dominique Thornewill even have its own series, which proves the importance of the heroine in the future of the MCU.
In a more distant way, there is also ToussaintT’Challa’s son, introduced in the post-credits scene of Black Panther : Wakanda Forever. He is one of the possible future members of the Young Avengers, just like Kid Loki from the Serie Loki or the Gorr’s daughter in Thor : Love and Thunder. A list to which we can also add Clint Barton’s children developed since Avengers: Age of Ultronor Morgana Stark, the daughter of the late Tony Stark. Finally, we can also cite Echo, which will also have its own series. That’s a lot of people…
And that’s good, because Kid Loki and Miss Marvel were also members of the Young Avengers in the comics. In short, the MCU has already set up a list as long as your arm of Young Avengers title contenders. And this list keeps growing. We let you make your predictions regarding the future members of the Youngs Avengers in the MCU.
