The Xunta expands the credit for aid for the transformation of transport fleets by almost 7.6 million

The Xunta publishes this Monday in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) the order by which the credit for the granting of aid for the transformation of passenger and merchandise transport fleets of private service companies is extended by 7,574,288 euros for road transport, a call that includes aid to companies that carry out complementary private transport. Once this extension has been carried out, the total amount of these aids will rise to 20,392,726 euros.

The Department of Infrastructure, through this increase in the budget, aims to meet the significant demand for applications already received, keeping the deadlines for submitting applications open under the same terms established in the order to call for these incentives launched last month of april.

The aids object of this call are granted from the General Budgets of the Xunta, and are part of the subsidies granted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda to the Community under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation for 2022, this year and next 2024.

The eligible actions in the call include the scrapping of vehicles, the acquisition of low-carbon alternative energy vehicles, the ‘retrofit’ or modification of the way vehicles are propelled, the implementation of charging infrastructures for electric vehicles and the acquisition of semi-trailers for rail highways.

The Xunta designed this program adapting it to the objectives reflected in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of Spain, towards the incentive to penetration of the best technologies in terms of the propulsion of industrial vehicles, especially zero emission technologies in transport, which will also result in greater efficiency in the use of resources, reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels and greater competitiveness of companies in a current situation that is especially compromised.

In this line, the aid affects the renewal of the fleet of vehicles, especially necessary in the case of heavy goods transport vehicles, as well as the promotion of the reactivation of the industrial fabric and the automotive sector, as well as the development of intermodal transport as an alternative and complementary means to road transport.

According to the call, 45% of the budget will be allocated to actions related to the scrapping of vehicles, with a minimum of 40% allocated to the acquisition of low-carbon alternative energy vehicles. The remaining budget will be distributed among the rest of the eligible activities and may be redistributed to adapt to the evolution of the aid requested in each of the activities that comprise the program.

The amounts collected in the new order are added to the initial incentives. Specifically, 3,408,429 euros are allocated to scrap metal activities and 3,332,686 euros to the acquisition of low-carbon alternative energy vehicles. The amount of aid for ‘retrofit’ activities or modification of the form of propulsion of vehicles and for the implementation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is 378,714 euros for each of these items.
