Pending the official European presentation, interesting new news continues to emerge on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 5. The fitness tracker was already introduced in China in early June, but for the version also intended for our country it will be necessary to wait a little longer. The design will remain the same, while some changes may concern some features and functionality.
A doubt that continues to emerge is that relating to the presence of the NFC which would allow users to use the Mi Band 5 to make payments in contactless and increasingly used mode. In China it is already present from the previous version, while in Europe it should arrive this summer thanks to an agreement signed between Xiaomi and Mastercard. Another important confirmation is the support to the Alexa virtual assistant, which can be started directly from the wrist through the use of your own voice and with the answer that will appear on the screen.
How it will be different then la Mi Band 5 who will arrive in Europe compared to the previous model? Xiami would have focused on three functions, of which two already mentioned, i.e. Alexa support and implementation of NFC technology. The third concerns the inclusion of SpO2 detection, able to verify the presence of the right level of oxygenation in the blood.
More specifically, Alexa support will allow users to manage your home’s smart devices comfortably via the smart band, as well as answer your questions directly via the display.
The NFC technology instead will allow you to make payments simply by bringing the wearable closer to the POS and with the transaction that will take place automatically. At the beginning, only cards belonging to the Mastercard circuit should be supported.
The heart beat sensor, as mentioned, will also be able to measure blood saturation, a particularly useful value to monitor for those who play sports but also for those who want to keep their health under control.
The fitness tracker is expected to be released in July, but a date has not yet been released. Marketing should however take place between the end of July and the beginning of August. The price should be around 40 euros.
