The Xiaomi car “leaked”. It looks like a McLaren in the front and an Aston Martin in the back

Phone maker Xiaomi’s MS11 EV has been leaked and looks like a McLaren sedan. The electronics company’s first foray into cars — an electric sedan expected to hit the market in 2024 — looks pretty good.

Chinese tech company Xiaomi, best known for its phones and other consumer electronics, is also developing a car, and ahead of its official launch in 2024, the electric sedan has appeared in its home market on a number of websites and social media channels, including on Weibo where these images were found.

Xiaomi first formed its vehicle development division back in 2021, soon after buying self-driving technology company Deepmotion Tech and building an electric car manufacturing plant. Since the summer of this year, they had the first prototype ready, and now the production version of this car, called the MS11, has leaked.

In general, the design of the sedan is pleasant. Its sporty, coupe-like silhouette is to be expected, given that it’s an electric car that needs to be aerodynamic, and even if it wasn’t electric, there aren’t many sedans left on the market that haven’t adopted this styling. the bodywork. Adding to the sporty styling are air vents at the rear of the front and rear fenders, as well as a set of bright yellow Brembo brakes.

Of course, one of the reasons it can look so good is that it appears to have borrowed some elements from proven sports car designs.

Up front, we can’t help but notice that the headlights and overall bumper shape are very McLaren-like, and the stepped rear end with an end-to-end tail light bar is quite reminiscent of the Aston Martin DBS.

Even the wheels look somewhat similar to those of the Lamborghini Huracan Evo, although that might be a bit of an exaggeration.

Still, these design cues aren’t exact replicas of what we think they look like, and the car combines them tolerably well and the overall package looks pretty good.

The roof-mounted Lidar sensor and flush door handles hint at the technological philosophy of this car, which is expected to place a strong emphasis on autonomous driving.

Range and power specifications have yet to be announced, but a report by Car News China indicates that the car will use batteries supplied by CATL and BYD, while the electric motors will be manufactured by Xiaomi itself.

Once the MS11 is officially launched, it will likely compete with cars like Sony’s Afeela sedan and Honda, another electric car developed in part by a tech company.
