In a recent interview, Duracell UK marketing manager Luke Anderson allegedly revealed why i Controller Wireless di Xbox still work with pile AA: Microsoft and the company famous for long-life batteries would, in fact, have a long-term agreement that would prevent gamepads from Xbox Series X/S to have rechargeable batteries in them for a long time to come.
Since 2005, all Xbox packs contain two AA Duracell batteries with which to power your gamepad. This despite other competing companies such as Sony and Nintendo have decided in the meantime to fall back on rechargeable batteries to be included in your peripherals and to be recharged through simple USB cables.
The two companies, on the other hand, have decided to continue theirs without hesitation partnership: on the one hand Microsoft includes Duracell batteries in its products, on the other the Bethel company uses Xbox controllers in its promotional campaigns to sponsor the life of its batteries.
Interviewed by MCV an Xbox manager defended his company’s choice: “we intentionally give the user the freedom to choose how to power our Xbox Wireless Controller. People can use any brand of AA batteries, rechargeable batteries from Xbox or its partners, or directly use a USB-C cable to connect the controller to the console or PC“.
This without considering that the Xbox Elite Series 2 contains a rechargeable battery inside and does not require AA batteries.
