The Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been delayed

At Sony’s latest State of the Game event Baldur’s Gate 3 PlayStation 5 announcement. It’s not uncommon for ports to rival consoles to go quiet during such events, but fans of the series were quick to notice that the Xbox version wasn’t even mentioned on the game’s official website. Some fear an exclusivity deal with Sony, but that’s not the case. On the other hand IGN Development studio Larian has now revealed that it is the Xbos Series S that is holding the game back:

We’ve had an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate III in development for a while. We ran into some technical issues while developing the Xbox port that prevent us from feeling 100% confident in announcing it; specifically, we were unable to get split-screen co-op to work well on Xbox Series X and S.

There is no platform exclusivity that prevents us from making BG3 timely [mit der PS5-Version] To publish to Xbox, this should be technically possible. When we announce additional platforms, we want to ensure that each release meets our standards and expectations.

For the first time, the release date of a cross-platform game is affected by the poor performance of Xbox Series S.
