The Xbox Series X/S version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is being held back by…

On Thursday, Larian Studios revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on August 31st. The announcement included release plans for PC, Mac, GeForce Now and PlayStation 5, but no Xbox.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 31, after almost three years in early access.

This led many to wonder if Sony has secured console exclusivity for the game. However, as Larian tells, it is about Baldur’s Gate 3 not working properly on Microsoft’s latest console.

In a statement to IGN the studio noted that there are no exclusivity agreements in place for the game. The team has been working on an Xbox Series X/S version for some time, but has encountered technical issues related to split-screen co-op play.

– We have been working on an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 for quite some time. We’ve run into some technical difficulties working on the Xbox port, which have prevented us from feeling 100 percent confident in announcing it until we’re sure we’ve found the right solutions.

– More specifically, we have not been able to get cooperative gaming on split screen to work equally on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, which is a requirement for us to be able to launch the version, Larian said.

If the developer gets the problem sorted out, there is therefore no reason why an Xbox Series X/S version will not be launched. The team still has six months until the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, so apparently there is still hope for Xbox players.
