It is open to people over the age of 65 and is available for vaccinators with a price of less than NT$500 (inclusive). Regarding health education products and 10-dose COVID-19 rapid screening, Zeng Shuhui, deputy director of the Department of Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said today that 1.32 million doses were originally expected to arrive last week, but after coordination, the delivery volume increased and the number has now reached 200 Thousands of doses are available, and those who are eligible are urged to take them quickly.
Zeng Shuhui pointed out that there are currently 2 million doses of XBB.1.5 vaccine on hand. Since they must be used within a certain time limit after thawing, they will be gradually distributed to various counties and cities depending on the vaccination situation of the people. The quantity is absolutely sufficient and is expected to be available before the end of October. Another 2 million doses will be delivered, and another 2 million doses will be delivered before the end of December, for a total of 6 million doses this year.
Zeng Shuhui pointed out that XBB is the currently circulating virus strain, and vaccination with one dose of XBB.1.5 vaccine is expected to reduce the risk of infection and severe complications.
The XBB.1.5 vaccine will be launched in three phases. The CDC considers that the elderly account for more than 70% of the local complications. The first wave of vaccination will be open to those aged 65 and above starting from tomorrow, and health supplies and 10 doses of COVID-19 will be provided with a cost of less than 500 yuan (inclusive). Rapid screening; starting from October 2, medical staff will be further allowed to administer vaccinations. As for universal vaccination, it will start as soon as October 9, but it still depends on the vaccination status of the elderly and medical staff, as well as the assessment of the overall capacity.
