The competition for young British performers “The X Factor” has come to an end – after 17 years it has been decided not to broadcast the show next season, foreign media report.
Although the format of The X Factor is still successful in other countries, it has become “slightly outdated” in the UK, according to Simon Kauel, the toughest member of the jury, British music producer Sun reports.
According to ITV representatives, there are “no plans” for the show’s new season.
The X Factor was last shown in its original format in 2018. The following year, it transformed into “The X Factor: Celebrity.” Last year, the show was suspended due to a coronavirus pandemic.
In March of this year, ITV CEO Dermot O’Leiry said of the show’s future: “I can’t say it will return this year,” he told new! “If it does return, it will happen in 2022, maybe in 2023.”
Meanwhile, 61-year-old Kauel has now devoted energy and attention to his new game show “Walk the Line”.
The “Factor X” was first shown in 2004, with Steve Brookstein as its first winner. In later years, the show brought world fame to artists such as the group “One Direction”, Leon Lewis and JLS.
In Latvia’s first “X Factor”, which took place in 2017, the spectator favorite Arturs Gruzdiņš from Rūjiena won.
Filming of the selections of the fourth season of “X Factor” is currently in full swing, and its new season will reach TV3 viewers in the autumn.-
