This decision was taken by experts from the WTO Dispute Settlement Body in the context of China’s complaint.
The experts recommended that Washington take action against China to bring it into line with the United States’ WTO obligations.
These tariffs set in 2018 were the beginning of the US-China trade war.
However, Washington has indicated that China’s response tariffs are also in conflict with WTO rules.
WTO experts will also examine complaints from other countries about customs tariffs set by President Donald Trump’s administration.
