[Updated report at 12:00]
When the Hong Kong team participated in international sports events, they encountered the wrong national anthem again. Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held the third level of the World Ice Hockey Championship. The Hong Kong men’s team defeated Iran 11:1 in Group B match yesterday (28th). After the game, the national anthems of the two places were played. When the national anthem was played in Hong Kong, the anti-revision song “Glory to Hong Kong” was played for about 10 seconds. Seeing this, the members of the Hong Kong team immediately made a T-signature to stop. Afterwards, a member of the team stepped forward to report to the game. After the meeting, they apologized and corrected, “We are very sorry and will be corrected”. After about 1.5 minutes, the conference played “March of the Volunteers” for correction.
The Hong Kong government stated that it was strongly dissatisfied with the mistake of playing the national anthem after the game. It also pointed out that the Hong Kong team athletes followed the guidelines to protest immediately, prompting the general assembly to make corrections immediately. We attach great importance to the incident and have requested the Hong Kong Federation of Hong Kong and Olympic Committees to conduct in-depth investigations, including whether the relevant sports associations have rechecked with the event organizers on the spot according to the guidelines, and that the national anthem to be used is the correct version. The Hong Kong government also urges the Hong Kong Association and Olympic Committee to submit a report as soon as possible and follow up the incident seriously.
The Hong Kong Federation and Olympic Committee stated that it is understanding the incident with the Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association.
