Superhero movies have dominated the box office and the preferences of fans around the world in the last decade, especially those produced by Marvel or DC.
But, for every Snyder Cut O Avengers: Endgame, there are some bad attempts like Batman V Superman O Iron Man 3, which simply did not come close to meeting the expectations of the specialized press or fans.
While those movies seem like good examples of superhero failures, we have bad news: there are even worse movies out there.
Since the end of the last century, film companies have angered fans with films that fall short of the characters they were planning to adapt.
Lazy scripts, costumes that look like low-budget productions, poorly made effects and horrible performances are some of the things that characterize the films you will see below, which are distinguished as being the worst in the superhero genre, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
#8 Green Lantern
Yes, there are worse movies than Green Lantern, and that almost ended the career of Ryan Reynolds, who got a second chance in the superhero genre with Deadpool, showing that at that time the problem was not exactly his performance.
Green Lantern It was nothing short of an insult to DC fans and to the comic book character, one of the most important in the Justice League.
The worst, and surely part of Reynolds’ nightmares, was his costume made entirely with a very inferior CGI, even for the time when the film was released.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 26%
#7 Dark Phoenix
Rather than end the saga in style, anyone would say that the producers and director of this film worked under protest at the recent sale of Fox to Disney.
The horrible characterization of Mystique and Beast aside, the script is completely nonsensical, resulting in an incredibly boring movie. But perhaps the worst were the villains, as terrifying and imposing as Baby Groot.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 22%
#6 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The ninja turtles It is one of the franchises that for its sake should rest for a few years, because attempts to adapt its comics, both in television series and in movies, have resulted in resounding failures.
The reason perhaps lies in wanting to adapt the characters and completely children’s stories, when the original comics were not.
Her designs weren’t pretty, and Megan Fox’s performance proved she can’t carry the brunt of such an important franchise.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 21%
#5 Batman y Robin
Joel Schumacher insists that he was inspired by the 1960s series for this film, but at the time it was taken very seriously, and as such it was criticized by the press.
The bat-nipples and the bat-credit card and the Batman and Robin over Ivy discussion are things much remembered by fans, but not for the best reason.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 12%
#4 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Very few know, but there is a fourth Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve, and as can be assumed, it is even worse than the third.
The action scenes are just boring, and the special effects look even older than the first movie.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 11%
#3 Catwoman
In essence, a Catwoman movie was not a bad idea, since it was the first time the story of a Batman enemy would be seen in the cinema without the protector of Gotham appearing.
But the problem was the execution, with poorly executed fight choreography and pitiful visuals. The only good thing about this movie was Halle Berry, but after the failure she never put on the Catwoman mask again.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 9%
#2 Fantastic Four
Reed Richars, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm are great superheroes in the comics, but in the movies they don’t have much luck.
After a failed first adaptation, in 2015 Fox tried to bring the Fantastic Four to the big screen, but the results were disastrous.
The main criticisms were directed at the CGI, which looked even worse than what we saw in the movie that had Captain America as the Human Torch. The leads are talented actors, but that’s not much use if the script is wrong.
Even these days, the director claims that Fox practically ruined his job, adding new writers and changing entire scenes in post-production.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 9%
#1 Max Steel
If you were a kid in the 90s, you grew up with Max Steel and 3D animated movies that were sometimes included as gifts in various products.
Well, Mattel had the great idea to try their luck with a live action movie, hoping it would be the start of a new franchise.
It turned out to be a very bad idea, as it went virtually unnoticed, and critics didn’t even bother to rate it.
