Intelligence Ukraine reveal military Russia using ‘ancient war methods’ against Ukrainian troops since the invasion was launched late last February. Ukrainian intelligence also said that the designation of the Russian military as the world’s second most powerful army is just a ‘big myth’.
As reported AFPSaturday (26/3/2022), the head of Ukraine’s defense intelligence agency, GUR, Brigadier General Kyrylo Budanov, told the United States (US) publication The Nation that the Russian military is teeming with informants where ‘large numbers of people’ are mobilized to engage in guerrilla warfare behind the front lines.
Budanov said even though Ukrainian forces were able to hold out against the Russian military over the past month, the situation remained “very difficult”.
“We have a large number of Russian troops on our territory, and they are besieging Ukrainian cities,” he said. “As for the prospects for peace, despite negotiations, they still remain vague and unpredictable,” Budanov said.
To The NationBudanov acknowledged that the Ukrainian troops benefited from a ‘miscalculation’ from the Russian military.
“The Russian command has miscalculated many times, and we took advantage of this miscalculation,” he said.
“The Ukrainian military has shown that the Russian military as the second army in the world is a great myth, and that it is just the concentration of manpower from the Middle Ages, an ancient method of warfare,” he said.
