Hitekno.com – A diver has found the biggest jellyfish in the world when exploring the area North Sea.

This diver still had time to capture the sightings jellyfish biggest in the world.

Found by Darren Martin of Tyne and Wear, diver (59), was taking photos in Brown’s Bay, England, when he saw the giant sea creature.

It caught my eye because I’m always looking for different things to photograph when I’m underwater, said Martin.

According to him, the jellyfish has a cream-colored dome-shaped top with long tendrils, which look like pieces of string and string hanging underneath.

The lion’s mane jellyfish or Cyanea capillata what he found was orange, although the creature also had other colors such as red or purple. Generally, jellyfish are up to six feet long.

Photo taken by Martin, Chris Hackers, another diver, is seen swimming with the animal, but half of its body is hidden behind the large size of the jellyfish Cyanea capillata.

Reported from Mirror, Thursday (9/9/2021), the giant jellyfish also has hundreds of thin tentacles underneath, making it look almost like a ghost.

This species is reported to have up to 1,200 tentacles and sometimes grows larger than the blue whale, which is known to be the largest whale in the world.

However, this jellyfish can also harm humans. In 2010, about 150 people became victims of a mass sting by a lion’s mane jellyfish in New Hampshire, United States.

This type of jellyfish is seen more often in colder waters and that explains why it is found in the North Sea.

A study from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, described the intensity of the sting as a pain that can last for hours or days.

Fortunately, the sting of the lion’s mane jellyfish cannot kill, but causes symptoms such as sweating, cramps, nausea, and impaired consciousness.

Even so, it is rare because most people will only experience mild pain.

That’s the discovery of the largest jellyfish in the world, namely the lion’s mane jellyfish or Cyanea capillata in the North Sea region. (Suara.com/ Lintang Siltya Utami).
