Numerous people stood in line for hours in front of the shop on Thursday to stock up on articles from the magical world of book author Joanne K. Rowling. The three-story store houses the world’s largest range of Potter fan merchandise.
In the meantime, the police had to be called to keep the waiting fans in order. In the shop, customers tried on the large shoes of the half-giant Rubeus Hagrid, drank the hero’s favorite drink – butter beer – and waved magic wands.
“It’s really magical,” said Margaret Suarez, whose boyfriend came at 6:00 in the morning to get a good seat in line. “I’m a witch in my heart,” said the New Yorker as she gazed at a wand in the range.
The 27-year-old Ruben Juarez traveled with his wife from Dallas, Texas, to witness the opening of the 1950 square meter store. “I love everything to do with Harry Potter,” said Juarez, wearing a scarlet and gold Gryffindor scarf.
The store was originally supposed to open last summer. However, the opening was postponed due to the corona pandemic.
