The world’s first grandma baking school opens in Vienna

The generation café full board opens a baking studio in Vienna-Mariahilf. Ab immediately, grandmas and grandpas let them in on their secrets about Gugelhupf and Sachertorte in their new baking studio. By opening the Backschule, up to five additional jobs will be created for seniors who want to improve their pension fund.

In addition to the craft, the focus should be on human encounters, exchange, jokes and playing Uno together, as in the coffee houses, while strudel and cakes are cooking in the oven.

Individual lessons or in a group

“Like our Generationscafès, the concept is geared towards togetherness, dialogue and joint action. We will gradually expand the formats up to one-week baking courses in which grandmas and grandpas teach you how to bake from scratch. What we are already noticing is is that team building companies, families and whole circles of friends are interested in our baking courses. The more, the better, because every course creates new jobs for seniors and more joy for everyone anyway,” says Moriz Piffl-Percevic.

For three hours, grandmas and grandpas teach individually or in groups: a course costs 119 euros. After the course we taste it together: You can enjoy your own cake in the box at home.
