Riot Games, creator of the infamous Valorant and League of Legends games, has just bought one of the studios owned by Wargaming, the developer of the free games World of Tanks, World of Warships and World of Warplanes.
One of Wargaming Sydney’s regional subsidiaries will now be called Riot Sydney and will become “a global hub for Valorant and League of Legends development, as well as new designs, prototype game features, add-ons and console ports.”
This division became known, among other things, thanks to the development of the BigWorld Technology engine, which gave the studio a place in the Guinness Book of Records due to the day when there were over 250,000 people on the server at the same time. Wargaming reserves the rights to the engine.
The former studio’s entire development staff will be joining Riot, though the amount of the deal is still unknown. Recall that last week it became known about the renaming of Wargaming games in the Russian Federation. Since the Russian studio Lesta Games now owns these products, it was called the World of Tanks game “The world of tanks”.
Similar names have been given to World of Warships and World of Tanks: Blitz, which are now called “World of Ships” and “Tanks Blitz” respectively. All progress of old players will be saved.
