The coronavirus pandemic has taken another famous victim. The world of sports sank into grief after the news of the death of 24-year-old famous canoeist Borislav Bizu.
The Ukrainian sports star showed symptoms of COVID-19 two weeks ago and was hospitalized. There, however, he developed sepsis, which his body could not fight.
Borislav Bizu is a three-time European youth champion. He is a multiple champion of Ukraine. He has successfully participated in world championships, where, however, he failed to reach the awards.
The canoeist was known as one of the few athletes living with the severe lupus disease he was diagnosed with in 2016. The disease is characterized by chronic fatigue, constant fever, and muscle and joint pain. In this disease, a person’s own immune system begins to attack various organs such as the skin, joints, kidneys, heart and blood vessels.
After the discovery of lupus, Borislav Bizu sporadically appeared and participated in competitions. He focuses his efforts on coaching.
