“Hassan Nasrallah is a brutal terrorist whose many victims include Americans, Israelis, civilians in Lebanon, civilians in Syria and many others as well,” Blinken said.
“During Hezbollah’s leadership, the group terrorized people throughout the region and prevented Lebanon from making full progress as a country,” he continued.
The death of Hassan Nasrallah as a result of the Israeli attack caused a new escalation in the conflict in the Middle East region. Nevertheless, Blinken believes that priority must be given to diplomatic solutions.
“The United States will continue to work with our partners in the region and around the world to advance a diplomatic resolution that provides real security for Israel, Lebanon, and allows citizens on both sides of the border to return to it their homes,” he said.
Blinken also mentioned the situation in GazaPalestine. He said that firefighting efforts are still ongoing in the area.
“We will also continue to work to reach a cease-fire agreement in Gaza that will bring back the hostilities, reduce suffering in Gaza, and preserve a more stable and secure peace throughout the region,” Blinken said.
Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli attack in the area of Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday (27/9). Hezbollah said it would immediately appoint a new leader after Nasrallah’s death.
