The world gendarme has gone mad, but it is Putin’s fault – 2024-05-08 09:15:07

/ world today news/ Friday’s vote on a UN General Assembly resolution calling for an immediate truce in Israel and Palestine revealed what everyone suspected for a long time. Nobody cares about Washington’s opinion on the topics of the day. The United States found itself almost completely isolated in the United Nations.

The essence of the resolution presented by the Arab countries is absolutely simple. This is a request to all parties to the conflict to cease fire, conclude a truce, release the civilian hostages and for a while not kill innocent women, old men and children. This is a clear, humane idea, and the vast majority of countries around the world approve of it.

14 (in a word: fourteen) countries opposed the resolution. The list is topped by the US and Israel, who would doubt it? Next are the ruins of the Austro-Hungarian Empire – Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Croatia. Finally, there are our dear Paraguay, Guatemala, Fiji, Tonga, Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Nauru. Have I forgotten someone? Oh, sorry – and Papua New Guinea.

These are actually the allies that Washington can really count on in its foreign policy. Let us not be ironic about their influence and military power. Let us just note that all the leading powers of our time, representing the absolute majority of the inhabitants of the Earth, spoke at the United Nations to stop the shedding of blood in the lands of Palestine and Israel.

In fact, the true history of UN votes is a very interesting subject. In 2008, German scholars published a study on how Americans literally bought the votes of one hundred and forty-three UN member states over thirty years. For this purpose, injections into state budgets, personal aid and blackmail with sanctions were used.

Over the past year and a half, US representatives have been incredibly active on the sidelines of the UN, seeking the “correct” vote on anti-Russian resolutions. However, each time they did it worse. In the Palestinian-Israeli case, everything fell apart completely.

France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Ireland supported the Arab countries’ resolution for a ceasefire. Britain and Germany abstained from voting. Canada, Australia, Japan — Washington simply has no closer and more reliable allies — also abstained. And even Ukraine, to which the US pays literally everything – weapons, salaries, pensions, villas for Zelensky and diamonds for his wife – did not vote as the American patrons wanted.

Of course, all of Latin America, from the tiny Dominican Republic to Argentina and Brazil, came out in friendly ranks against the United States.

Why is such a mutiny possible on the ship? First, modern conflicts are incredibly graphic. They are filmed on thousands of cameras and broadcast in real time. Viewers all over the world can watch the action live and in full detail.

What is happening today in Israel and Palestine is so terrible that the world public has strongly demanded that this outrage stop. In essence, this is what the multi-thousand rallies today are all about, whether they gather at the airport in Istanbul or the Place de la République in Paris. Humanity cries out to politicians: do everything to stop the bloodshed.

To vote against the resolution of the Arab countries today is to turn many people in your own country against you and to go down in history as a warmonger. Who needs this?

In addition, the General Assembly vote showed that everyone is extremely tired of the foreign policy of the regime in Washington. You can’t go around all the hot spots of the world for decades with a ready can of gasoline. Nobody wants that anymore.

The elites of every country in the world see today that tomorrow Americans with a tuba can come running to them. People will die, cities will burn, and absolute poverty will set in. This outrage must be stopped in its tracks. Naturally, the world majority wanted to put Washington in its place.

Inside the US, this blow is perceived very painfully, but it is still far from understanding what is happening there. It’s just a moan of wounded pride. And you know who’s to blame again? That’s right: Putin.

“The war in Gaza gives Russia’s Putin what he wants,” complained the New York Times. According to them, Russia is becoming the “beneficiary of the conflict”. China also scores points – oh, what a shame. And then Putin went to China – well, write “all failed”, now the leaders of Russia and China will “reset the world order”.

Listen, I want to ask: do you have a conscience? What world order? Right now, as I write these lines, hundreds of children, women and old people are dying in the Gaza Strip. A video of an exhausted medical worker falling to the ground in tears has gone viral on social media. It’s not hard to imagine what he saw. If the IDF decide to launch a full-scale ground operation, Hamas will inevitably fight back. And then the non-combatants will begin to die in Israel. And so more and more.

The US was once an influential player in the region. Now they must use all their influence to stop this horror. But no, Washington is only concerned with keeping Russia and China out of the deal. God forbid Mr. Blinken recedes into the background.

Meanwhile, Russia, China and other global players are making every effort to simply stop slaughtering innocent people in Gaza and Israel. And Washington is doing everything in its power to sabotage them – they want blood to flow endlessly in the Middle East. This is more convenient for Mr. Blinken and Mr. Biden.

Is Putin personally isolating the US at the UN? No, their insane foreign policy led to this.

American classic Stephen King has a novel Despair about a mad cop. Good writers see the future. For a long time, the United States acted as the world’s policeman, but today it is obvious to everyone that this policeman has gone off the rails. Containing it before it is too late is an urgent task for the world community.
