Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Muslim activist Ghanem Nuseibeh criticized Qatar inviting controversial Islamic preachers Zakir Naik who is said to lecture during World Cup 2022.
One of the things that became critical of Nuseibeh was when Zakir Naik accepted one of the ulema fatwas that banned the World Cup. However, the speaker has now come to the 2022 World Cup, which is said to have been invited by Qatar to give a lecture.
Nuseibeh said Naik was a preacher who was barred from entering the UK in 2010 for his frequent preaching of extremism. But now Naik has been invited to lecture at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He also accused Zakir Naik of spreading radicalism among the youngsters participating in the international soccer competition.
“Qatar invites Indian extremist preacher Zakir Naik to preach at @FIFAWorldCup. Naik was banned from entering the UK in 2010 for his extremist preaching. He is now at the Qatar World Cup to radicalise young Muslims who participate in #Qatar2022 #FIFAWorldCup,” he tweeted on Saturday. (11/19).
The founder of the British Global Cornerstone Association and chairman of the Anti-Semitic Muslim Foundation said Qatar would mix sport and religion if it invited Zakir Naik to preach at the World Cup. Because according to him, only 5 out of 32 football clubs come from Muslim-majority countries.
“Why does Qatar insist on imposing Islam on football fans? This is far more dangerous than politicizing the World Cup,” Nuseibeh wrote.
He also accused Qatar of wanting to radicalize anyone it could, especially amid his suspicions that Qatar is said to be funding Al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and others.
