At the fair, which was also attended by non-governmental organizations, women writers signed their books at the Işık Kitapevi stand. Many CTP executives also attended the event, which attracted great interest from citizens. CTP Women’s Organization President Doğuş Derya emphasized in his speech that they are fighting for a united Cyprus where justice, equality and peace culture prevail. Pointing out that the process regarding gender equality does not always move forward, Mayor Derya pointed out that during the periods when conservative governments ruled, resources were transferred to private companies instead of public benefit and women were more exposed to inequalities. Derya emphasized that the recent economic crisis has increased labor exploitation, increased male violence, deepened ecological plunder, and the burden of individuals in need of care has been left on women’s shoulders. Derya also mentioned that the taxes paid are not returned as services, the situation of elderly care homes is deplorable, and public nursery and study centers are lacking. Emphasizing that CTP is struggling to take back the public rights of citizens and for everyone to live a life compatible with human dignity, Derya stated that there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome when women join hands and show solidarity. Underlining the importance of feminist solidarity, Derya said: ““Our unity gives strength and strength, long live March 8, long live feminist solidarity,” she said.
Derya concluded her speech by celebrating International Working Women’s Day and saluting the CTP Women’s Organization.

CTP Women’s Organization Kyrenia District President Özay Kalyoncu, in his speech, said that the 11th anniversary of the event’He reminded that it was held for the th time and gave information about the history of the fair. Touching on the struggles of women in social, economic and political fields, Kalyoncu said: “Coming from the tradition of the Patriotic Women’s Union, we CTP’Today, when we look back to the past, women from Turkey are socially, economically and politically; “We see that we have put our effort and signature into whatever has been done to ensure the equality of women in all areas of life and to make their lives easier,” he said. Kalyoncu said, “Here is CEDAW, here is the Family Law, here is the Istanbul Convention, here is the Penal Code, here is political quotas, here is TOCED and more…” and CTP’It reminded us of the gains made by Turkey regarding women’s rights. Kalyoncu, who respectfully commemorated her friends and fellow strugglers who passed away in the past, stated that despite the difficulties experienced today, she gained strength from women’s determination to fight and the spirit of solidarity.
