The redevelopment of the Cathedral Quarter took a new step during Thursday night’s city council meeting.
In order to achieve economies of scale, the city of Chartres and Chartres Métropole wanted, according to the resolution presented to the elected officials, “to join forces to conclude certain contracts of studies, works or associated services” for the operations of the cathedral district.
The municipal council has approved an ordinance grouping agreement, which will allow companies to use a series of services, such as the management of the various works around the cathedral (International House of Cosmetics, surface and network structures, etc.) o contracts for the construction of the historic building and the rehabilitation of the rectory houses.
Elected officials from Chartres Ecologie and Chartres on the left voted against.
“The project has existed since 2016 and is not going forward. It has substantial errors. What is the significance of this order grouping that mixes genres? »
Olivier Maupu (elected environmentalist)
“Why don’t you make an official presentation? Jacqueline Marre, leader of the left-wing group in Chartres, asked for her.
This project “is blocked”, according to the mayor, who claims to have received the president of the National Property Commission. “I don’t show it to the public, because I want to present it to the National Heritage Commission first, in the first half,” he explains.
