The Wonky Port of Chrono Cross is finally getting some overhaul
Square Enix came out about a year ago Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers EditionA ‘re-mastered’ version of the 1999 classic on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and This Transformer, as the original game was, was also a very poor port.
Here, among others, They are some of the complaints we received last April when we first played the game on an OLED Switch:
- Detailed, pre-rendered backgrounds look blurry and smudgy
- 3D character models are rendered at higher resolutions, like a sore thumb in the new environments
- Battle often stutters and feels unresponsive
- No save modes (but there is an autosave in the upper world)
- Graphic styles cannot be changed on the fly
- FMVs haven’t always been expanded cleanly
- HD fonts are crisp but look out of place
Do you understand what I mean? Bad outlet! The game and the fans deserved better. Even better is what they’re about to get, as Square Enix promises an update coming later this month that will try to fix some of the release issues. How many of them will fix, and how much they will fix is anyone’s guess, but addressing them is at least the beginning.
Welcome everyone.
