This tells the legend of Lydéric, whose father and mother were murdered by the great Pinaert brigand who ruled over the land they crossed. Raised by hermits in secret, Lydéric grew up and sought revenge and ended up satisfying it by killing the giant during a conversation under the watchful eye of King Dagobert in 640.
