– We have easily and tried to get to where the emergency signal was sent from. At 0137, we received a message from the crew of the Red Cross that the women had been found, says operations manager Helene Strand at the South-West police district.
The crew from the Red Cross found an emergency shelter that the women had sought refuge in. The women are supposed to be fine, but they have started to get cold.
– Now they are working to get the women down to a cabin, so they can get warm, she says.
The police were notified of the incident at 17.45. The women must then have sent out emergency beacon transmitters that showed the position of where the women were.
Volunteer search crews had to go up to Bleskestadmoen in Suldal in Rogaland, after a rescue helicopter had to turn around due to bad weather in the area.
– It is a demanding action. There is a lot of water in the terrain and it is steep in the area, said duty officer in the Red Cross, Knut Vormestrand on Tuesday night.
