The end of summer is approaching and with it the beginning of the patron saint festivities of Valencia de Don Juan in honor of Nuestra Señora del Castillo Viejo and the Blessed Christ of Santa Marina that will begin on September 4 with the municipal proclamation and the beginning of the performances of one of the eight orchestras present in the program of festivities.
Garibaldi, Radar, Saudade, Fénix, Tekila, La Última Legión, Kubo and Grupo Beatriz will be the orchestras or performances that make up part of the live music program and that will liven up the nights in Coyan until the end of the festivities on September 14.
Mago de Oz will be the highlight of the Coyantina festivities that will fill the Plaza Mayor with the best folk-metal on September 9 at 00:00, an appointment with a key group from the living history of the Spanish music scene and that will bring together to thousands of people in Valencia de Don Juan.
4 will be the disco-mobile sessions that will take place during the festivities, to which we must add other performances more designed for the whole family, such as that of the traditional music group Mayalde or the mariachi parade with a subsequent performance called Estampas de México .
After the drought of 2020 due to the pandemic and the festivities of 2021, marked by the sanitary restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 situation, “the Christs” return in all their splendor to Valencia de Don Juan, thus recovering their traditional firewood carts, the burning of a bonfire, the celebration of parades, the giants and big heads or the fireworks, if the higher authorities allow it due to the high temperatures and existing drought.
Supersóniça, a free and quality festival in Valencia de Don Juan
Prior to the start of the festivities, on September 3, the Supersóniça festival will be held in Valencia de Don Juan, a free date with music in rural areas that will fill the town throughout the day with a cultural and festive atmosphere.
The main poster of the Supersóniça is made up of the groups El Columpio Asesino, Cala Vento, Grises and Los Vinagres, reserving spaces for culture during the day in a day in which different establishments and local businesses will get involved with the initiative of the council coyantino.
