As announced, the musical The Wiz will soon be back in New York. Currently on tour in the United States, the show will open on Broadway at the Marquis Theater on March 29, 2024.
This second revival was created in Baltimore on September 23, in the same city where the show was first created in 1974. The production is by Schele Williams. The choreography is by JaQuel Knight.
The Wiz is a revisitation of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The original production of the musical performed over 1,600 performances in New York and won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score.
We wish more success to Wiz than the last show on the bill at the Marquis Theater: Once Upon a One More Time.
