In an official document, CD Projekt has confirmed important details regarding the refresh of the first Witcher. The production has been defined with very significant words – The Witcher Remake is a “story-driven, single-player, open-world RPG”.
This time the creators will decide on a full-fledged open world, which will be a big change from the original, which invited players to several large locations. The studio also recently said that “most” of CD Projekt’s items will receive online modes, but apparently we don’t have to worry about implementing RPG elements in this case.
The Witcher Remake has also been described as “a modern re-imagining of 2007’s The Witcher”, which is hardly surprising, as the new world structure is sure to have a significant impact on gameplay.
The Witcher Remake will be created on Unreal Engine 5, and the project itself is under the responsibility of Fool’s Theory, that is, an external company – CD Projekt will provide technical support and supervise production.
