“The Witcher: Rats” Spin-Off and Season 4 to Introduce Villain Leo Bonhart

Part 2 of the third season of “The Witcher” hasn’t even started yet, so we’re already looking into the future of the fantasy franchise. This not only includes the change from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, but also more new faces.

Walt Disney Pictures / Netflix

Anyone who follows “The Witcher” on Netflix has probably already noticed: From season 4, Liam Hemsworth will play the witcher Geralt of Rivia. But before the fourth season starts, a spin-off will be released, either as a miniseries or as a feature film: “The Witcher: Rats” about the formation of the rat gang, which Ciri (Freya Allan) later joins. And now “District 9” star Sharlto Copley has been signed for both the spin-off and season 4.

The Redanian Intelligence fan site, which is well informed about “The Witcher”, reports on Copley’s involvement and, while not able to confirm his role one hundred percent, has an educated guess. Because the search for an actor for the role of the witch slayer Leo Bonhart has been going on for a long time. And this one will appear in both Rats and Season 4 of The Witcher.

Leo Bonhart is chasing Ciri

Leo Bonhart is one of the most dangerous villains in the entire “The Witcher” saga and was already mentioned by name in Season 3. The bounty hunter, who claims to have killed three witchers, will only appear in the spin-off “Rats”. And especially in season 4, Bonhart should become important as one of Ciri’s biggest opponents after she has joined the gang of rats. You can find out more about Leo Bonhart in this article:

Not only Vilgefortz: This is how the villain is prepared for season 4 in “The Witcher” – he has already killed 3 (!) Witchers

First of all, the remaining three episodes of the third season of “The Witcher” will be available on Netflix on July 27, 2023. And in this, the arrival of Leo Bonhart has already been prepared, but the focus is currently on a completely different villain:

Magician Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), whose machinations were uncovered by Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) in episode 5 and who no longer has to maintain his friendly facade in the final three episodes, but can go into direct confrontation with Geralt – which turns out to be quite brutal, as connoisseurs of the book templates by Andrzej Sapkowski know and as the trailer for “The Witcher” Season 3, Vol. 2 indicates:
