“The Witcher 3 Hits New Sales Record, CD Projekt RED Confirms Phantom Liberty Story Expansion for Cyberpunk 2077”

CD Projekt today presented its financial results for the first quarter of this year. As part of them, we learned that The Witcher 3 has reached a new milestone in sales. Also confirmed are plans for a Phantom Liberty story expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.

The nearly ten-year-old adventure of Geralt of Rivia celebrates. Game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt since its launch in 2015, it has sold more than 50 million units worldwide. In April last year, over 40 million copies were reported. The open-world action RPG continues to sell at an impressive pace. The next-gen version, which arrived last year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, contributed to the success.

To give you an idea of ​​how successful The Witcher 3 is, with 50 million it climbed to 9th place on the list of the best-selling video games of all time, is above Pokémon Red / Green / Blue / Yellow (47.5 million copies) and below Red Dead Redemption 2 (53 million copies). But of course it is necessary to take into account the release date, the western action from Rockstar did it in half the time. The best sellers are Minecraft (238 million copies) and Grand Theft Auto V (180 million copies).

Thanks to the success of the third installment, the Witcher Trilogy is under review more than 75 million pieces. It is therefore not surprising that CD Projekt RED is preparing a new trilogywhich will use the modern Unreal Engine 5 for the first time. CD Projekt RED also confirmed that on Summer Game Festu will be introduced in more detail Phantom Liberty pro Cyberpunk 2077. The first and last story expansion for the cyberpunk adventure will be available to journalists after the Summer Game Fest. After that, the expansion is to be shown at other events.
