Like every year, this year the students’ works were evaluated by a jury; this year, for the first time, two parallel juries in the audiovisual and performing arts worked, their composition included LKA lecturers and employees, who determined their favorites.
In the audiovisual arts, the jury nominated:
- The best actress – Sandija Dovgane for her role in the film Reflection syndromedirected by Emils Alp;
- The best actor – Jurgis Lūsis for his role in the film To grow updirected by Rudolfs Deinats;
- Best Film – Start all over againdirected by Ruta Znotiņa.
The jury also determined the winners in the performing arts:

- The best actress – Elina Bartkeviča for her role in the comedy Happy daysdirector Linda Kalniņa;
- The best actor – Rudolfs Sprukulis for his role in the comedy practice, director Jānis Leščinskis;
- Best Show – Mysterious variations, directed by Mārtiņš Kalita. As a prize, the director received a kerosene lamp from the collection of Pēters Pētersones, which was presented to his teacher Māra Ķimele by festival patron Karina Pētersone.
The biggest intrigue and novelty of this year’s festival were the theater’s antipremi Golden fly presentation ceremony. Throughout the week of the festival, every visitor had the opportunity to rate the performance of theater professionals last season by voting for their favorites in five unusual categories. Gold flies the awards ceremony attracted the attention of candidates and industry professionals, some of whom were intrigued enough and brave enough to attend the ceremony.
Gold flies at the awards ceremony, the anonymous jury’s prizes were divided into the following categories:
- The coach / director of the year is Juris Žagars, the director of the Daile Theater, who is honest and does not play anything, because in his theater Petrenko’s play is staged naked by an Estonian, and that of Rešetina by a ‘English.
- Director of the year, who knows what he wants – Mārtiņš Meiers e A celebration of other songs Valmiera Summer Theater Festival. M. Meiers knows that he wants to be like Smilģis; consequently – on a stage there are two cars, several choirs, an orchestra, Sandis Runge and a group of painted students who do not understand what they are doing.
- Identity Crisis of the Year – Igor Shelegovskis, adopting a nickname and starting rapping.
- The most open artist of the year is Arturs Krūzkops, who has already appeared naked in countless roles this year and next year, mainly at the Latvian National Theater.
- The show of the year we didn’t understand – Grimm In the Liepāja theater, the director Elmārs Senkovs. Why don’t they speak in a way that can at least be understood?
Festival Autumn of the Patriarch it will be possible to enjoy the rhymes next weekend at satellite events in Stāmerien and Gulbene.
on October 14th at 7.00 pm at the screening of the film Stämerien Palace, it will be possible to see a film with an intense plot A duel of kings (dir. Helmuts Bondars), as well as the award-winning film at the festival – an absurd drama Reflection syndrome (dir. Emils Alps) and comedy Start all over again (dir. Ruta Znotiņa).
Saturday 15 October at 5.00 pm at the Gulbene cultural center there will be the opportunity to attend the work performance of contemporary dance students swallows (choreographer Ilze Zīriņa), while on Sunday 16 October, at 3.00 pm at Stämerien Palace – two productions of absurd drama: Samuel Beckett Happy days Directed by Linda Kalniņa and interpretations by Eugene Ionesco Bald candid production directed by Ralfs Liepa. At the festival Autumn of the Patriarch for eight days the performances of university students, masters and doctoral students in dramatic theater, contemporary dance performances and films were on display; the festival program was enriched with discussions and lectures by industry professionals on contemporary theater, cinema, dramaturgy, absurdity in theater and music, the need for a contemporary dance house in Latvia, etc. In addition, LKA students attended master classes throughout the week.
