“You could say that it is actually a kind of wage increase. On average, you refuel about 150 liters per month for a company car. With the price increases you arrive at about 100 euros net per month that those people have extra compared to who do not company car,” it sounds.
The price is of course passed on to someone: the employer. “For all companies together, we are talking about 50 million euros per month that all companies together now have to cough up”, Van Gool calculates. And employers cannot just intervene on unlimited fuel cards. “It’s about an agreement with the employees.”
“It is possible that there will be different rules for those who are assigned a new company car,” thinks Frank Van Gool. “For existing situations, it may also be an opportunity to see whether there are no alternatives. You can offer a lease bicycle in addition to the company car. For 100 euros per month you can offer such alternatives. If people then drive fewer kilometers drive, everyone is the winner in the end.”
