The winners of the American Music Awards 2022

Bad Bunny could make history at the 2022 American Music Awards gala.

The Puerto Rican performer is the most nominated artist, with a total of eight possible awards. Among them the first as artist of the year.

If all goes Bad Bunny’s way, it would tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most awards in several categories in a single year.

Beyoncé, Drake and Taylor Swift each got six nominations, while Adele, Harry Styles and The Weeknd each got five.

First-time nominees included Jack Hawlow, Latto and Blackpink. Meanwhile, Elton John has made history as one of the “most recognizable artists” in the history of entertainment. His first nominations were in 1974.

The organizers also announced the addition of a new category dedicated to the K-Pop genre: “favorite K-Pop artist”.

Among the shows of the evening, great artists of various generations and genres stand out, such as Carrie Underwood, Imagine Dragons, JID, Pink, Tems, Wizkid and Yola, who will take the stage to offer special musical performances.

The show will feature special giveaways. Pink will return to the AMAS stage to pay a moving tribute to Olivia Newton-John.
