The winner left the track in a wheelchair

The 5th-seeded Dutchman Kiki Bertens was accused by Errani of finger injury.

The Italian refused to congratulate Bertens on the victory, and on the way out of the field she shouted “vaffanculo” at her, an unappealing Italian word.

– After an hour she was injured, but afterwards she ran around as if there had never been anything wrong. Then she has to be wheeled off the track in a wheelchair, but in the locker room everything is fine with her. She exaggerated, thundered Errani afterwards.

– It made me very angry. It was well done to win, but she can do it without acting.

Had seizures everywhere

Bertens won 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 9-7 in a match that lasted three hours and 11 minutes. She said she had cramps all over her body and could not get off the field. Therefore, she was wheeled out in a wheelchair.

– She can say what she wants. If this was a finger, I should be an actor. During the fight the cramps came and went, but afterwards I had cramps everywhere. I could not even clench my fist, because my fingers would not move, she said.

She said that she received physiotherapy for three quarters of an hour after the match, and that it took half an hour before the cramps subsided.

– She should be there. It’s not nice to hear the things she said, but I do not want to take it personally. She was probably most frustrated that she could not win, said Betens, who joked that maybe she should take a course in acting.

Errani, who in 2012 was the losing finalist in Roland-Garros, had a match ball in the wild match, but she got penalty points for spending too long on serving. At one point, she delivered a forearm serve.

The players offered a total of 24 serve breaks. Bertens had 61 winning strokes and 63 unforced errors.
