Résumé
They called him Wild Bill. Real name James Butler Hickok, he was considered the best shooter in the West. Without a plan or a fortune, this dandy with a flamboyant style aroused admiration mixed with fear, seeming to be interested only in women, poker and whiskey. A strong character and skill in handling firearms that earned him the opportunity to represent the law in the wild territories of Kansas. One evening in October 1871, his life was turned upside down. During an intervention, he accidentally kills his deputy and friend. Vague at heart, Hickok surrenders his marshal’s star and wanders the Plains. Without conviction, he agrees to appear in popular shows glorifying the West. Alongside Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack, he reenacts his own adventures, real or fantasized, in front of an audience eager for sensationalism. But the heart is not there. Tired of these charades, in search of authenticity, he takes the road to the Great Plains and goes to Deadwood, in the Dakota territory. There is a meeting with destiny.
