The widely advertised Vilnius – Warsaw train route is plagued by problems

The widely advertised train route from Lithuania to Poland has encountered problems, Lithuanian TV3 reports.

Several times, all passengers on the journey to Warsaw were disembarked from the train and had to continue their journey by bus. On the way back from Warsaw to Vilnius, passengers had to face an identical scenario.

As it turned out, the Polish train broke down at the border. Therefore, passengers waited half an hour for another transport. The passengers were put on buses to take them to Bialystok, 200 kilometers away, where the train to Warsaw was waiting.

Lina, who returned to Vilnius from Warsaw after three days, once again experienced an identical situation – she had to travel part of the way by bus. “We drove a little, about 2-3 stops and the train stopped for twenty minutes. I didn’t pay attention to it at the time. But it turned out that the train would not run there and we had to change buses,” says Lina. In addition, not all passengers could fit on the first bus. Some had to wait several hours for the next bus.

Lithuanian Railways, which organizes the journeys, admits that their customers traveling to Warsaw are experiencing problems and inconveniences during their journeys. However, he explains that it is Poland’s responsibility.

Lithuanian Transport Minister Marius Skuodis shared a photo of his first train trip to Warsaw a month ago. The popularity of this route is enormous.
