Basra (Ittihad)
Iraq completed preparations to host the “Gulf 25”, amid the great hospitality of the brothers, and the championship fever swept the city of Basra, and the championship logo and flags of participating countries adorned most of commercial and private structures, institutions and showcases.
The streets were decorated with thousands of billboards welcoming guests to “Mesopotamia”, and on them were written “Welcome to our brothers”, “We look forward to seeing you in Basra”, and “Basra is your home”, and everything is now completely ready for the “kick-off”.
Iraqi brothers ran to welcome the guests of the tournament, and the great artist Kazem El-Saher said, “The beloved are in the city of love.”
Basra is packed with thousands of delegations and sports and media fans. Thousands of fans of the participating teams are seen freely roaming the streets of Basra, its restaurants, alleyways, commercial markets and cafés in a safe atmosphere, as the streets are crowded with them until late at night, despite the low temperatures of the Gulf .
Adnan Darjal, president of the Iraqi Football Federation, said: We are thrilled with the success of the tournament through the application of international technical and organizational standards, and that the ‘Gulf 25’ stands out and the opening ceremony runs smoothly.
