The whole of Norway can enjoy the weather this week

This week, great weather has been reported throughout Norway. When there is no snow, there are reports of pleasant weather and a proper Christmas atmosphere.

StormGeo’s meteorologist on duty Lillian Bergheim can tell you that those on holiday have a fantastic week.

– It is favorable weather for those on holiday this week, says Bergheim.

Overall, there will be quite little precipitation in northern Norway and in central Norway. Southern Norway, on the other hand, has to settle for somewhat changing weather. As a consolation, Bergheim can say that it will alternate between stay-at-home weather or precipitation in the form of snow.

– There may be precipitation in the form of some sleet in the coastal towns, but it will come as snow in most places, says Bergheim.

Top up with snow

In northern Norway you can expect refills of snow. Then mainly along the coast of Finnmark.

“Throughout the day on Monday, these snow showers will move south towards Lofoten,” says Bergheim.

– There will also be some snow throughout the afternoon on the Helgeland coast, she adds.

The cold will continue to dominate in the north, but many degrees below zero on the degree scale. It will be especially cold in the interior in the north.

– The temperatures will be between 15 and 20 degrees below zero also on Monday.

In Central Norway, on the other hand, the snow will decrease somewhat. It has snowed a lot in the region in recent days, but now it may look like clear weather again.

– A good number of clouds are expected, but it will be inclement weather, says Bergheim.

However, there is a precipitation field approaching Central Norway. There will be precipitation in the form of snow in most places, but along the coast of Western Norway and Agder the precipitation will most likely come in the form of sleet.

– Hordaland, Rogaland and Vest Agder must expect some increased wind, Bergheim says.

But even though the wind is increasing, no major differences have been reported.

– The wind will increase to a stiff gale during Monday night, says Bergheim.

The weather lasts throughout the week

Tuesday will be characterized by the same weather as Monday, but there have also been reports of stay-at-home weather in several places in the country.

In the north you can expect good hiking weather.

– Tuesday looks like a day with mostly stay-at-home weather. If there is any precipitation, it is in the form of snow, Bergheim believes.

She says that it is first and foremost the coastal areas in Finnmark that have to cover themselves with snow showers, if any.

Further south in the country, there is a precipitation field that is heading north. This will give some snow in Eastern Norway.

– There will be stay weather in Western Norway and in Trøndelag, says Bergheim.

On Tuesday evening, there may be some precipitation in the form of sleet in the areas of Sørlandet and the southern parts of Østlandet.

Bergheim says that there will be precipitation mostly in the form of snow, but that the coastal towns in the area will probably have to settle for some sleet.

Quiet Wednesday

On Wednesday, Bergheim believes that not much will happen on the weather front in the north.

– It will be stay-at-home weather in most places. The wind can increase a little, but not so much. It will mainly blow up in a fresh breeze.

Also in southern Norway, staying weather has been reported in most places.

– If there is some precipitation, it is in the areas on the coast of Møre og Romsdal and in Trøndelag, says Bergheim.

The weather turns again on Thursday

On Thursday, there are many who unfortunately have to settle for the weather turning to get a little wetter and a little milder.

Although the forecasts are somewhat unclear, it appears that temperatures will increase somewhat in both the north and the south. Westerners will notice this.

– In Western Norway, temperatures will begin to rise to two to three degrees plus. This will probably give precipitation in the form of sleet, or maybe even rain, Bergheim says.

Temperatures are also rising somewhat further north.

– In the coastal areas, temperatures will rise in plus degrees, says Bergheim.

– There will be some precipitation in the form of snow, and most likely in the form of sleet along the coast.

Be aware of the avalanche danger

There are many who have planned to ski during Christmas, and Bergheim has a clear appeal to them.

– Check the avalanche danger, Bergheim encourages.

Significant avalanche danger has been reported in Møre og Romsdal due to the snow that is expected.

– In the north, the risk of avalanches is currently moderate, while the further south is not so great, says Bergheim.
