The WHO states that Covid-19 is spreading faster and faster in the world

The new coronavirus is spreading more rapidly around the world, with 60% of all infections reported in June since the pandemic began, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.

“The number of new cases exceeded 160,000 every day last week,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreiuss said in a virtual briefing.

“Sixty percent of all cases detected so far were reported last month alone,” he said.

A total of more than 10.6 million people have been infected with the new coronavirus worldwide, and more than 516,000 people have died from Covid-19.

The WHO chief emphasized the need for a “comprehensive approach” to curbing the spread of the virus.

Countries that have implemented a wide range of measures, including clearing contacts, isolating, socially distancing and wearing masks, “have limited infection and saved lives,” Tedross said.

The WHO is deeply concerned that there are countries that “have not used all the means at their disposal and have had a fragmented approach,” he said.

“These countries have a long, difficult road ahead,” the WHO director general said.
