/ world today news/ The World Health Organization rejected the proposal of Belize to include in the agenda of the World Health Assembly the invitation to Taiwan to participate in the forum as an observer.
Commenting on the matter, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry said that this was another rejection of such a proposal and it showed that the “one China” principle enjoys the support of the international community. Before the opening of the assembly, about 100 countries expressed to the WHO their support for the “one China” principle and opposition to Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly.
The spokesman called on Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party not to act against the will of the people. Those countries trying to use Taiwan to contain China should stop politicizing health issues, using them as a pretext for interfering in Beijing’s internal affairs, the spokesman said.
