The international Jānis Baltvilks Prize in Children’s Literature and Book Art, which was presented for the seventeenth time on the writer’s birthday, was distributed, reports TV3 Ziņas.
The aim of the award is to promote the development of children’s literature in Latvia, its international recognition, as well as to strengthen the tradition of reading books. The ceremony in the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia is still going on, but the winners of TV3 News are already known.
Marts Pujāts has received the award in writing for his collection of poems “Ej nu ej”. Reinis Pētersons received the award for the best children’s and youth book artist. His illustrations complement Inese Zandere’s story “Boy with a Dog” and others.
The jury has recognized Kitty Role as the best debut in children’s literature and book art.
French writer Delfīne de Vigāna and translator Inta Šmite have received recognition for the novel “From and I”.
“In the past, it was difficult to find something to nominate for the” Creativity “award, but this year there are already five,” the writer Jānis Baltvilks expressed joy.
Therefore, the jury is happy to say that this year’s ceremony is under a conditional “creative sign”.
