Before the season started, all pundits and fans were pretty optimistic about the White Sox’s chances of finishing first in the (weak) Central Division.
The season is still young and Tony La Russa’s troupe may end the season at the top of this division, but things are going badly in Chicago right now. The team has lost its last six games and was swept by the Cleveland Guardians last Wednesday and Thursday.
After 14 games, therefore, Chicago is 6-8, good for third place in the powerhouse.
The big problem on the South Side isn’t the lack of talent, far from it. In fact, the club is decimated by injuries.
As Jon Heyman points out, several good players on this team are on the sidelines.
