The White Lotus: Series on Hiatus Due to Hollywood Writers’ Strike

The White Lotus is one of the series that has been put on hiatus due to the Hollywood writers’ strike. That says actor Tom Hollander in the podcast The News Agents.

Mike White is the big man behind the series and, according to Hollander, already has the story of the third series in his head. But he has put production on hold because he doesn’t want to be kicked out of the writers’ union Writers Guild of America West (WGAW).

The White Lotus is a series about extremely wealthy Americans who vacation in a resort. The series takes place in a different location each time. In the first season, that was Hawaii. For the second series, Sicily was the location and Thailand would be the site for the third season. According to Hollander, White was already looking for suitable locations in that country.

Other series and films are also delayed due to the strike. Next The White Lotus those include the movies Spider-Man 4, Mission: Impossible 8, Stranger Things in The Last of Us.

American screenwriters strike for better pay. In addition, they want rules for the use of AI in the production of films and series. The strike has been running since May. More than eleven thousand writers have laid down their work.
