White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby confirmed Friday that the United States will announce a new $270 million military aid package for Ukraine.
It will also include four more HIMARS rocket launchers and 580 Phoenix Ghost attack drones.
The cost of the drones is about $100 million, with the rest of the military aid package worth $175 million. These are four more HIMARS salvo missile systems, 36,000 units of artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons and automotive equipment.
John Kirby also specified that the US at this stage is not considering the delivery of combat aircraft to Ukraine.
“We will have more military aid packages that we will announce in the coming weeks and months,” Kirby told reporters.
He also praised the grain deal signed earlier in the day in Istanbul, but warned that the deal’s success “will depend on Russia’s compliance with the agreement.”
John Kirby also took the opportunity to comment on Biden’s situation, adding that there was “no impact on the national security decision-making process” after the US president tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, then went into self-isolation in the residence of the White House.
